GCPS is proud to offer an award-winning 50/50 Dual Language Immersion Model. Students spend half of the school day learning segments of our unprecedented Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum in a
chosen language, and the remaining half of the day learning
additional segments

About the GCPS Dual Language Immersion Program

A team of two teachers collaborate to ensure their shared students learn the full GCPS AKS curriculum while developing proficiency in both English and their chosen language. Each teacher maintains her or his own classroom with the students switching rooms half-way through the day.

Dual Language Immersion Teaching Requirements

• A love for teaching younger students
• Excellent instruction skills and classroom management techniques
• A strong passion for collaboration
• Certification in Early Childhood Education
• Advanced-mid level / Near Native proficiency in target language

Become a Certified Foreign Language Teacher
If you’ve already earned a Bachelor’s degree, the GCPS Teach Gwinnett program can serve as your route to certification. This TAPP-certified course can often be completed while you are employed in a GCPS school. Call (678) 301-7071 for more information. You can also become a certified teacher through area universities.
